Residency Photos

8 12 2011

I’ve shared some photos from the Bandera “Cowboy Days and Rodeo” before, but I have some new photos from my trip to Wyoming where I participated in an Art Residency at the Brush Creek Foundation for the Arts. It is located on the historic brush Creek ranch, a 13,000 acre guest and working cattle ranch at the base of the Medicine Bow National Forest in Saratoga, Wyoming. The artist camp is situated right next to the Brush Creek, in between the Sierra Madre and Snowy Mountain ranges. I was there for a two week residency along with 3 other visual artists, 2 writers, and a composer. It was an incredible trip and it will provide inspiration for a terrific series of paintings.

Women Artists of the West

23 03 2011

I have been accepted at the annual member’s exhibition for Women Artists Of The West (WAOW) held in Rockport, Texas. WAOW is a national organization with over 250 award winning, professional women painters and sculptors from across the country. This non-profit group fosters appreciation and promotion of art created by women. I had to meet strict criteria to be juried into this prestigious organization and my work also had to be juried into the art exhibition. “WAOWing the Lone Star State” runs from May 11th through June 4th, with an opening reception to be held on Saturday, May 14th from 5pm to 7pm at the Rockport Center For The Arts. Brazos Banditos

Brazos Banditos

For the show in November I intend to do paintings from this photo-shoot.

This is one of the “Brazos Banditos” who I hired for a model – he and two other guys were on horseback and were great models.

“Based out of College Station, TX, the Brazos Banditos is a troupe of Wild West entertainers who provide shows for private parties, corporate events, town heritage festivals, and living history presentations for educational entities such as schools, museums, and historical reenactments. We also provide authentic models for old west artists, the way that Remington and Russell saw it…”

Honorable Mention!

13 07 2010

My painting “The Chase” won an Honorable Mention at the Humane Society show at Archway Gallery.  I was very happy to enter the paintings for such a great cause anyway, so the thoughtful recognition by the panel just makes it all the better.  Can’t wait for next year!

Fox 26 Houston had a news crew at the Humane Society show – I was awarded special recognition for the painting “The Chase” which you will recognize in the video. It actually opens on “The Wait.”
